What Information is Collected About Visitors?
The information that we collect about you while you are using the Site falls into two general categories:
1. Information You Provide to Us.
We may collect and store personally identifiable information and other information that you voluntarily supply either while on the Site or in responding via email or filling out an online form in connection with a feature provided on the Site. Personally identifiable information is information that can be used to contact you or that gives your specific identity.
Some examples of this type of information include (i) information (such as your name, company, address, email address, phone, and other contact information, including credit card information or payment information) that you electronically submit when you sign up or register for access to the Site or certain features or services on the Site (including purchasing products through the Site), (ii) information (such as your name, company, address, email address, phone, and other contact information) that you electronically submit when you register for various activities on the Site, including such things as surveys, questionnaires, or offerings on the Site, (iii) information that you post on message boards, blogs or other public areas on the Site, and (iv) information contained in search requests or questions that you submit to the Site or to us. If you decline to supply or provide us with certain information that is requested while using the Site, you may not be able to use or participate in some or all of the features or services offered through the Site.
2. Information that is Automatically Collected.
We collect and store information that is generated automatically as you navigate through the Site. This information may include information about the IP address of your computer, browser type, language, operating system, geo-location data, the state or country from which you accessed this Site, the web pages visited, the date and the time of a visit, the websites you visited immediately before and after visiting this Site, the number of links you click within this Site, the functions you use on this Site, the databases you view and the searches you request on this Site, the data you save on or download from this Site and the advertisements you view.
In order to collect this information, we use a standard feature found in browser software called a "cookie" to enhance your experience on the Site. Cookies are small files that your web browser places on your hard drive for record-keeping purposes that identifies your browser. By showing how and when visitors use the Site, cookies help us track user trends and patterns. They also prevent you from having to re-enter your preferences on certain areas of the Site where you have entered preference information before. We also use web beacons, web server logs and other electronic tools to collect information about your usage. These tools may collect log information about your computer's connection to the Internet, your web request, Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your request and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser. This information allows us, among other things, to improve the delivery of our web pages to you and to measure traffic on the Site.
3. User communications
4. Third Party Sites
We may present links in a format that enables us to keep track of whether these links have been followed. We use this information to improve the quality of our search technology, customized content and advertising.
We process personal information on our servers in the United States. We may process personal information to provide our own services. In some cases, we may process personal information on behalf of and according to the instructions of a third party, such as our advertising partners.
How is this Information Used?
We use the information we collect from you while you are using the Site in a variety of ways, including using the information to customize features and advertising that appear on the Site. We also may provide your information to third parties, such as service providers, contractors, and advertisers, for a variety of purposes. For example, we may provide our advertisers with information about you and other visitors that will enable our advertisers to better target advertising to specific types of visitors.
We reserve the right to use and to disclose to third parties all of the information that we collect online about you and other visitors in any way and for any purpose, with one important exception. We will not authorize third parties to use the information that we collect online from you to mail or email promotional offers directly to you from us unless you have informed us that you would like to receive such promotional offers from us. If you choose to receive these promotional offers, then your information may be used for direct mail or email marketing. If you do not wish to receive such promotional offers or other emails, you should opt out of receiving the offer. You may view or update your preference to receive these promotional offers by visiting us at our registration page.
Please also keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily make your personal information available for viewing by third parties online - for example on message boards, through email or blogs, or in chat areas - that information can be seen, collected and used by others besides us. We cannot be responsible for any use of such information by third parties.
Please be aware that we may release information about users of the Site, without your consent, (i) as may be permitted or required by law, regulation, rule or court order; (ii) pursuant to requests from governmental, regulatory or administrative agencies or law enforcement authorities; (iii) to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; or (iv) to prevent, investigate, identify persons or organizations potentially involved in, or take any action regarding, suspected fraud, violations of our Terms of Service, or activity that appears to us to be illegal or may expose us to legal liability. Additionally, we may disclose your personal information in situations that we believe to be emergencies involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person or property if we believe that your personal information in any way relates to that threat. We may also share the information among our affiliates.
Please also note that as our business grows, we and/or affiliates may buy or sell various assets. In the unlikely event that we or affiliates sell some or all of our assets, or this Site is acquired by another company, information about our visitors and/or registered users may be among the transferred assets.
How To Make Changes to Your Information
When you use the Site or our services, we make good faith efforts to provide you, where applicable, with access to your personal information and allow you to correct this data if it is inaccurate. We ask individual users to identify themselves and the information requested to be accessed and/or corrected before processing such requests, and we may decline to process requests that are unreasonably repetitive or systematic, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardize the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical (for instance, requests concerning information residing on backup tapes), or for which access is not otherwise required. In any case where we provide information access and correction, we perform this service free of charge, except if doing so would require a disproportionate effort. You may change your subscriber information at any time by contacting us at email@example.com.
How We Protect Your Information
We use reasonable security systems and secure computers to protect your information. For example, your registration information is password-protected so that only you may access or change the information. You should not share your password with anyone. Our personnel will never ask you to divulge your password in written or electronic communications. We will only ask you for your password when you contact us and only in cases where you request customer service to correct a service problem which requires your password. Additionally, when highly confidential information, such as a credit card number, is transmitted through our websites, it is encrypted by using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) software. Please be aware that Internet security technology changes rapidly and data transmission is never 100% secure. We cannot guarantee that any safeguards we use will completely protect your information from security threats whether now or in the future. You should also be aware that despite our efforts, factors beyond our control may result in disclosure of your information. Accordingly, we are not able to guarantee the security of the information you transmit on or through the Site.
